Photograph collection, mostly of Michigan people, places, events, concentrating on Alpena (Mich.) and Trelfa family, ca. 1860-1862 and undated. Photographs and negatives (most boxes), 8"x10" glass plate negatives (boxes 11-14), photograph albums (Box 15), and rolled photographs (Box 9) are in a variety of sizes. Among the places documented are: Alpena, Mackinaw Island, Traverse City, Mount Pleasant, Cheboygan, Rogers City, Ypsilanti, Saginaw, Sault Ste. Marie, Grand Lake, Thunder Bay, Boyne City, St. Ignace, Rockport, Kalamazoo (Mich.) and Cleveland (Oh.), Duluth (Minn.), and Buffalo (NY). Topics of interest include Pewabic Salvage of a shipwreck, snow, the Cleveland Steam Navigation Company, Advertising, Portraits, Sports, Mackinac Bridge, Camp Custer, Soo Locks, a "Negro wedding, 1919,"Trefla relatives, the 50th wedding anniversary of Tom C. and Helen Trelfa on June 1, 1968, and large numbers of unidentified early machinery.

Trelfa (1886-1929) was a historian from Alpena (Mich.). Several of his and his brother Tom's collections about early Michigan history are in the Clarke Historical Library. Nothing further is known about Lamb. Montreal (Keweenaw County, Mich.) was a copper mining area that later became part of the Clark Mine.
